Custom Hair Extensions

Hair extensions come in a wide range of colours. At our salon we can match most new clients straight away with our available stock. However, some clients may require custom hair extensions to match their hair. An experienced hair extension salon will help you achieve this. Below I will discuss the custom hair extension techniques we may require for some new clients looking to transform their hair with hair extensions.
Balayage hair extensions
Custom hair extensions often include achieving a balayage look for a client. This is when clients are darker towards the top and have the brown transition to a lighter colour towards the mid lengths. Depending on the client's growth and desired look, this can mean custom dying the top of lighter hair extensions to match the client's darker hair and how far down it goes on the extensions. This allows the client to be able to have the hair darker at her roots instead of too light an extension at the root and allows it to hide and blend better with her natural hair. You want to avoid contrasting natural hair colour to hair extension colour as this can result in an un-natural hair extension look. Balayage extension looks allow a hair extension to blend in more lightness for clients who are seeking blonder hair but only have it just a touch on their mid length and ends.
In order to create a blonder look for a client, the client must have at least the very ends of their hair blonde also — this allows for the natural hair and the extensions to blend and maintain a natural look.
Root shadow
Root shadow is a fantastic custom hair extension technique for clients who especially have dark roots and lighter hair. It helps blend the hair extensions in more for when hair may blow in the wind and does not expose a contrast of light hair extensions to dark natural hair roots. When matching the colours perfectly hair extensions should remain discreet in the hair. Of course, selecting a very discreet hair extension method is also key. Nano bead hair extensions are customisable and can help achieve a very natural look for all women of all ages.
Toners
Often when colour matching blonde hair, sometimes ladies may have slightly over toned their hair in the lead up to the hair extension transformation day. I highly recommend not using any purple shampoos or toning your natural hair the week leading up to your hair extension application day. Then the hair extension technician can see how your natural hair fades and the natural colour it can be when you do not use purple shampoo. Then the hair extensions, once perfectly matched with your hair, can be purple shampooed all together to eliminate more warmth for you. Hair extensions are easily toned and dyed as it is real human hair. Just keep away from bleaching hair extensions, as it can ruin the quality of the hair. Also avoid excessive toning as it can lead to hair extensions drying out sooner. Help maintain the hair with nourishing conditioner and a leave-in moisturiser.
Foiled effect
Hair extensions can often be used to even out hair colour in a client's natural hair. However, some ladies have a mixture of colours with foiling technique in their hair. When fine foils with different colours brought down to the ends of the hair are used, this requires the very same foil effect to be done to the hair extensions. This is important to transition the ends of the client's hair with the hair extensions to flow together and help achieve that natural effect. When women do not have the hair custom matched in this case, the result leads us to seeing a silhouette of their natural darker hair where it ends. A not so natural look.
A hair extension consultation will include colour matching and let the technician see if they need to customise your hair extensions ready before your extension application appointment day.
